I believe(?) that I'm a 9w1, but if that's true, then I'm almost certainly an sp or sx variant. I used to think sp... but I think sx is probably more accurate, when it comes down to it.

I had thought that I may've been a type 5... but then I read that 9s often mistype as 5s, but 5s rarely ever mistype as 9s. I also read the thing in the "so I'm a type 7 enfp?" thread, which cleared things up a hell of a lot, haha.

9w5...although my 5 scored just about as high as my 9. I think technically your wing is supposed to be one of the numbers adjacent to your type, so it should have been a 1 or 8 which scored really close to the 5.

An INTJ enneagram 9? And yeah, I think enneagram theory says that the XwY means the Y is adjacent to the X.

What's a type 9 INTJ like? What do you think about in social situations?

It all depends on the situation what I think about & how I interact. If it is a business type setting I can be fairly outgoing/assertive and I am usually thinking about networking and meeting people strategically. If it is truely a social setting and I don't know anyone, I'm very reserved and I usually spend the majority of my time observing people from a corner and figuring out if it is worth my time to stay and hang out with these people (I get pretty bored at parties). If I'm there with friends, I usually hang out with the people I know and once I get tired of all the small talk I find a spot to people watch. I try to avoid large group social settings when at all possible, prefer smaller groups.

ENFP type 1? I expected that even less than the INTJ 9!

Do you think it describes you well? There are a bunch of links to enneagram descriptions in the "links to get started with" thread if you haven't read anything on it yet.

I've never seen an ENFP and thought "perfectionist!" before, though. Same question as I asked oregonaggie: what's it like inside your head?

>.> Why do you think ENFPs leave half our projects unfinished? O.o Sure we get excited by new things, but multitasking is like breathing to us...so why not finish? Because it won't be perfect, that's why! I stopped studying in high school for tests because the more I studied, the more likely I was to have a nervous breakdown on the one question I didn't know the answer to. I'd rather get a B, knowing I barely did any studying, then get frozen up on one question and end up doing worse because I panicked....

Empress you are spot on!! It feels a bit like being ocd and adhd in a strange psychological puree. But it works though I was just looking at the chart and it looks rather dismal, but I guess anything can be used positively or negatively. Ahhh polarity

I'd imagine type 1 is pretty common for firstborn children, regardless of their mbti. >.> Expectation = drive for perfection.

Hello, I'm a type 4. I'd be interested in finding out if there are links between the enneagram types and the MBTI types. I did an enneagram workshop last year and the lecturer told me that it makes perfect sense that I'm a 4 and the "P" in the "ENFP" is very strong...hmmmm, anyone ever found any articles online that studies the links in more detail? My sisters a 7 and an ESFP we have great fun together but she's got a fierce temper...I worry about her sometimes!

I believe someone was saying on personalitycafe that the mbti types are the what...the enneagram is the why. It's the motivation behind who you are, and just gives a more complete picture of your personality.

Twos and Nines
Twos and nines can look similar in that both tend to merge with others, and both tend to be self-effacing in their own ways. Nines, in general, are disengaged, tending to be removed from their feelings, and often finding it hard to mobilize themselves into action. Twos, by contrast, want to stay in constant activity and service to others. Twos tend to aggressively pursue the other through flirtation, flattery, gifts and favors. Nines are more receptive and indecisive, tending to be pleasant and easy going but not necessarily assertive. Twos, like ones, believe they know what is best for others. Nines tend to have more of a "live and let live" attitude.

Fours and Sevens
Fours and sevens can look similar in terms of their tendency towards indulgence and a certain volatile emotionality. This is especially true with the 4w3 and the sx 7w6. Both are moody, both are drawn to intense experiences; both can be prone to romanticizing others. Some enneagram theorists distinguish the two, saying sevens are more extroverted whereas fours are more introverted. While extroversion is more common among sevens and introversion is more common among fours, either type can be an introvert or extrovert. In general, sevens tend to be more confident as well as more distraction-seeking. Fours tend to have a much higher degree of shame, and tend to be troubled with feelings of inhibition and self-loathing. Sevens main focus is on indulging in whatever their source of pleasure is to the point of excess. This excess can be intense emotions, introspection, intellectualism or more "traditional" sources of hedonism. However, sevens seldom have problems with envy. Fours, by contrast, struggle deeply with envy, comparing themselves to others and constantly coming up short.
