I'm not 100% sure where to put this, so I put it in psychology/sociology as I'm lumping it in with tendencies and behaviour, if the forces that be want to move it elsewhere, I'm cool with that. Now, on to the topic:
Are ENFP's likely to talk through DVD's and T.V. shows? If so, do you pause it beforehand if you have the option?
Random question, I know, but I'm feeling random and kind of spazy at the moment and it just popped into my head. |

I'm notorious for making fun of movies in front of friends. I also love to try and predict plots and such as if it is some sort of contest to show off my N and P functions. I just realized this, but when I watch a movie by myself, it is because I want to feel something. When I watch a movie with friends, it tends to turn more into an interaction between myself, the other viewers, and the movie. I will constantly lean over and make jokes to my gf during a movie about something that happened. I have also found that movies can have a pretty big impact on my emotions and feelings. A deep movie experience will leave me feeling what the characters are feeling in the movie. |

It drives my INFJ friend NUTS when I start making predictions >< Especially because I get her INTJ husband into a competition with me over who's more accurate. I might've pissed her off on Halloween....I kind of guessed correctly what was going on in The Orphan.... >.> She likes to just enjoy the movie for its own sake...so when we're at the theater, she always makes sure there's someone sitting between us. Hehehehe. The best time I ever had was watching Battlefield Earth at the theater with my INFP friend - we were the only ones watching it and we had a blast making fun of it....as loud as we wanted. |

As an ENFP that can do multiple things at once, I had to put "rules" in while watching TV (before DVR was popular and I had it) - no talking during a show. LOL!!! Now with everything on the DVR, I can talk and rewind as often as I want. LOL!!! |

I have strong opinions about movies, T.V shows, and music. I like to share them when they are negative. If they are positive I tend to stays silent to enjoy the artistic experience. When I was a kid my sister would always yell at me for talking through movies. I only just got back into the habit. |

Oh, YES. People always tell me to hush and watch the movie. My boyfriend does this thing where he starts helplessly motioning to the screen, trying to get me back on track. But it's so fun when you predict something and it happens. |

Oh damn this annoys me to no end. The ENFP I know refuses to shut up when we go to the cinema or sit in and watch films. I CANNOT STAND IT! Why do you feel the need to talk through and so ruin a film? The immersion effect dies horribly! |

2 reasons:
1. We're not suitably impressed enough with the movie to feel the need to be immersed in it. As such, we assume that those around us feel the same, and thus we see no problem making commentary. IE: Mystery Science Theater 3000
2. It's a really good movie and we're really into it....but we think out loud. We notice subtle details and we want to let others know that we noticed. >.> So we point them out.
I just saw Ninja Assassin last night. For the most part, I was quiet and enjoyed the movie. It wasn't the best thing ever, but it was good for what it is. I had a good time and could get into it. However, there were some eyebrow quirk and eyeroll moments that I simply had to share. My mother was sitting next to me... >.> I kept my voice down to a whisper so as not to bother anyone else, but I couldn't help but point things out. I think it's just in our nature to want others to have the same, full experience we do. I'm not going to remember later that I thought about how you could use the same extras in a ninja movie over and over since you can't see their faces anyway....and even if I did, it's not going to have the same effect as if I lean over and whisper it to someone during a longass fight sequence. It may not seem like there'd be a huge difference, but the difference between a little chuckle later and an "Oooooh yeeeea....they totally *could* be the same guys over and over" while watching the subject of the comment in action means alot to me.

I understand wanting to explain things to people, I take a film class and so notice things most people don't i.e. lighting having a meaning and such. An ENFP went to the cinema only to go "I see." throughout the film, that, to me, doesn't come across as helpful or like he's thinking out loud, more just making noise. |

O.O That's not it at all, liquid. Of course, there are the obvious editing errors and silly or stupid dialogue or costumes that must be mocked....but I notice things that have meaning. For example...the symbolism of women and of colors in film. Movies emphasize the difference between good girls, tough girls, and bad girls with symbolism....mainly with their hair and clothes. Girls that wear their hair down and have clothing that is very soft and feminine...pastel colors, knee-length skirts, and have a very fresh, young look are the good girls. Tough girls have pony-tails and typically wear more masculine clothing. Bad girls are all about tight, slutty clothes, short skirts, and hair that's either up or styled. If a movie is about the transformation into a hero, then the hero is always more handsome after the transformation (or beautiful if it's a woman). Every hero story has a different take on what makes a hero...not necessarily the qualities or the actual process, but more in regards to the villain. In some cases, it happens independently and spontaneously - Spiderman and the Green Goblin. In this case, it would seem like coincidence or fate...I would argue fate, as Bruce Campbell seems to be the manifest representation of fate in all the movies....as he appears just before a great change. This type of hero creation implies that destiny is unavoidable, and it simply must be accepted or there will be consequences. Some heroes come into existence due directly to the actions of a villain. Bruce Wayne became Batman because of his parents' murder. In these cases, it's an argument that evil demands the creation of a force of good to counter it. >.> Popcorn? |

Haha I know film-y stuff, I wrote my own screenplay as part of the course and had to put in symbolism (like a woman representing evil, a man representing humanity, a figure representing good and humanity destroying good)
Like, in the Shining, the bit where he's looking in the mirror and it zooms out shows two personlities and such. (two of him in one reality).
I don't like popcorn...it's dry... |

At the cinema? I have an internal monologue going the whole time, I just don't share it not knowing if present company is interested. I reckon ENFPs and INTJs would make excellent movie companions. I'm never immersed in a film so I wouldn't mind the commentary . And I think like someone said above, it would become like a fun competition of who's the most perceptive and who knows what's happening next
TV? definitely. Usually yelling at contestants on reality TV shows, making snipey comments. Not a good idea to sit me infront of shows like Judge Judy, Dr Phil etc
Yeah, like you guys I also like guessing the endings of shows, showing-off the NT awesomeness, usually with freakishly great success: how on earth did you KNOW that???? hahaha.

I talk all the time in movies. I have a particularly (weird?) habit of: if a friend and I just, say, turned on a program on TV, I'll ask them, "Who's this character? Why are they doing that?" even though there's no way on Earth they could know b/c they just started watching it at the same time as me. When I think about it, it cracks me up. Interestingly, nobody ever seems to call me on it, though. |

I do that, lol, and more. I don't watch soaps that much, but when I do we miss the whole episode because something will have my attention and I wan't to know what they were all doing beforehand right way back to the very first episode. Then after enough satisfaction, and a few eyerolls later from friends, I want to know why they watch them becuase I think they are pointless. Then their viens on their necks start throbbing...hehe If anyone does this to me though, off with their tongue!! |
