For music do you need a constant strain of new music?  I can listen to classical over and over if I am working, the same songs.  But If I want to have contemperary music I need new new new all the time.  Is this the same for you?

I usually get a song I want, then play it to death. I have my favorites I can listen to over and over, but generally I get sick of em and have to get something new. It also depends on my mood. (I also have songs that I associate with certain people or create a story around - and those ones I can listen to more too)

yeah, mostly I listen to my ipod or the radio, I have 6 settings for radio stations and sometimes there won't be even ONE song playing that I'm not sick of, that's when I turn it off...at least for a few minutes. I'm not very consistent at putting new music on my ipod, which I need to do...usually I can listen to favorites more frequently than songs/artists that are just okay.

Lately, my music tastes have been evolving in a very unique way. I've always been a fan of ska, which is pretty light-hearted and fun. However, I've somehow started to enjoy death metal, even though I have never been able to stand it in the past. Symphonic music is also among my favorites, along with synth-pop. Its very strange to listen to my playlists, considering they contain Dethklok and Freezepop...

Oh, and I forgot to actually reply to the topic. As Alysaria said, I usually listen to a song until I can't stand it anymore. That can take up to a couple months to a year or two.
