So I'm starting to think that country music is more relivant to society and more sophisticated then pop or hiphop... case in point:

---------------

"You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star..."

"....And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." - Nietzsche

I've been a country music fan since I was a kid - it's one style of music my dad listened to. And it's still what I mostly listen to. But I have an eclectic taste in music.

Country music is what I can mostly "sink my teeth" into - it moves me and communicates to me.

Well, everybody loves Johnny Cash. Anybody who says otherwise is either lying or a figment of the imagination.

I am most perfectly content being a figment of everyones imagination. I am but a shadow.

There was that short story written by Oscar Wilde, in which the shadow was actually the soul...

Well, it seems that most people seem to believe that people do not actually have immortal souls, so from an atheists point of view, it is still just a figment of the imagination.

Whoever said it had to be immortal? I meant soul in the emotional sense--akin to the heart.

Oh, Rogarn has a soul and a heart. He may not like Johnny Cash though. I kind of do. But he did call you, Sakari, on using a spiritual reference.

If it's akin to the heart, then why not just heart??

I told you. You remind me of my dad. So does Purple Giraffe. And probably Optimaler as I get to know him. ENFPs are loyal friends and advocates when we get you.

Pft. Just because I don't believe in a spiritual entity doesn't mean I can't use spiritual references that have nothing to do with said entity.

And yes, Rogarn is definitely a sweet kitty. Cuddle time!

But that doesn't mean I won't disagree with you on numerous points. Just that I view you as a decent guy.

I expect everyone to disagree with me. Many times, I state things in a way to draw out arguments. My opinion is just that, and I have no hesitation in stating it as such. The fact that you stand up for my morality and logical rational is what I appreciate.

As far as the heart thing goes--the point the short story makes is that the shadow/soul that went traveling as his owner stayed elsewhere had no heart, because the owner kept it to love the mermaid, etc...so I couldn't really use the word heart. Also, soul implies more of a holistic "mind/heart/conscious" thing than the heart, which relies primarily on the idea of emotions. At least, that's what it evokes for me.

That you do Rogarn... But you seem flexible in some ways, and that's an especially good trait for an INTJ. Likewise, ENFPs can seem so flexiblie that they've lost their moral compass.

Sakari, I love to press you in this regard, because you remind me of myself several years ago. Our beliefs are so much more similar than you know.

Oh Rogarn! I do love you!! I don't know what has been said in this thread because I couldn't be bothered reading it all in my current state.. Needless to say, it sure looks like you've just had some kind of face-off...

Sakari, I love to press you in this regard, because you remind me of myself several years ago.

Yes... ouch......... 10 points to whoever actually won...

I expect everyone to disagree with me. Many times, I state things in a way to draw out arguments.

Haha.. Rogarn! I commonly go over old threads and laugh at what I see you doing.. Absolute genius.. It's a wonder people fall so easily for the troll tactics of getting reactions.. .. Whatever the case, you hit the funny bone alright... :laughs:

Anyhow, aside from that tangent, I want to go back to the thread topic.. I have heard it mentioned many times that country music is terrible..
I have found it increasingly interesting - I just thought I would mention that country music appears to be discredited a lot in our day and age amongst the popular music front, with the exception of Taylor Swift, as she does seem to bring a good name for Pop-Country music.. Anyhow.. I was going to say that only an individual who wasn't musically minded at all, or someone who really couldn't care less to broaden their horizons and focuses only on the "popular" would discredit an ENTIRE genre of music, based on the principle of it sounding off.. I actually have found some pretty fantastic country music out there.. As far as hip-hop goes, I didn't even realize that it was a music genre.... Hmm.. I'll have to hit more tin cans, write a poem and see how it sells...

Johnny Cash doesn't qualify as a country music artist... he's in an entirely different realm. I don't like typical country music particularly much though. I prefer fast paced music, such as hip hop (today's hip hop sucks...) and rock. I appreciate classical music, but it's not really my thing. I respect people who are into classical music immensely though, as they are nearly always intelligent.
