I don't know. Do you have any theories? It kind of reminds me of that one scene in Magnolia... Have you seen it?

What an interesting phenomenon. I'm very curious to find out what is actually going on. I have a few ideas, but they are probably way off. XD

Haha that cat emoticon thing is awesome. Anyways, my guesses were this (some are retarded, but oh well-no offense to retarded people...):1. Some kind of contagious, fatal bird disease took them out. 2. They attacked in the middle of the night like in some famous short story I read a long time back and all got killed, and it's a conspiracy (they're pretending they don't know what happened to the birds>the people killed them). 3. Hail killed them while they were migrating. 4. Zeus got pissed at them for getting to close to his Mt. Olympus (which of course invisibly hovers over that exact location), so he knocked them out of the sky with his thunderbolt. 5. The birds decided to commit suicide to prevent their children from living on a planet with global warming, Js, and their nemeses, the rednecks. (sorta like the Jews at Masada). (1,3 were the serious ones...)

Don't waggle your finger at me! I gave you a statement answer. I don't know.   I like your kitties though! You should see Magnolia. You will laugh when you get to the scene I'm referencing.

I honestly don't know what to make of this. It's very sad. And troubling. As always Stripes, I would be most interested to know if you have a theory of your own???? But you probably won't tell if you do. I don't think it's anything hypothesized here so far, or by experts cited on the news broadcasts. Although I guess it could be a virus. It just seems unlikely to hit such huge numbers at the same time. Radiation maybe... or something similar. Keep us posted if there are any meaningful test results.

One of my cats (who I had had for 6+ years) died suddenly earlier this week. She was purring and drinking water when she just seized up and died in like less than 30 seconds. There weren't any warning signs and there was nothing she could have gotten into. It was weird, and I have heard of similar stories happening earlier this week too of people with pets. I don't seriously consider that they are related, but it is coincidentally weird and disturbing.

I miss that stupid cat.

Aww, PurpleG, I'm so sorry about your cat.

This whole phenomenon is pretty disturbing. I don't feel qualified to speculate.

Wow, you've really done some research into this. Do you work with environmental or biology type of stuff? Honestly, I feel like my worrying about it isn't going to help anything since there is nothing I can do...which is perhaps merely laziness on my part. I admire your conviction.

I'm also very sorry to hear about your cat Purple Giraffe.

I'll post more on the bees later.
