At this time in my life, they would have to reinstate conscription. I would serve as required, but the drafting ages would also have to be that of World War II. At the time I was eighteen, I thought I had better economic opportunities elsewhere. For the most part, I believe I was correct.
I have a few close friends that did a couple of tours in the Army and we were discussing this. If push came to shove, they thought I would probably be given a desk job. However, they would never send me to the front lines as I would be far too valuable for that. |

I could start a war on this thread if I wanted to... pun intended. Hmmm, I'll just state my opinion and let you Americans get worked up if you so choose. I would never enlist in the American military. It's far too backwards. I refuse to be apart of any institution that, through my research, I have found to be one of the following: faulty, inconsistent, backwards, twisted, etc. If it causes more harm than good, I want no part of it. *waits for grenade to be thrown in my direction* |

I believe the major problems with the American military can be found in the policies that political leaders constrain it by. |

^^ I would guess more I / ENTJ and INFP. But honestly, beware to the person who tries to bully an ENFP, or worse yet, her INFP friend. You will likely get a tongue-lashing you won't soon forget. Although it will probably be followed by an apology.
Haha.. YES!!! If anyone passes a line where they are bullying me (or even worse yet a friend - or family member), I exile that person out to a nearby desert and send arsens out to immobilize them, and then I send a bout of roughly 20 nuclear missiles just for good measure.. Then I watch the mushroom cloud of my anger disappear.. Oooo! Pretty colors!

I'm curious to know under what circumstances would you consider joining the military??
Hmm.. I actually think that I would rather join special forces and do this secret agent Sam Fisher style..

I've thought about it my entire life. It was always my "fallback plan". I'm still thinking about it today. Though I am no longer driven by a desire to jump out of an airplane and blow shit up to make a living. Rather, I imagine getting a degree in psychology and serving in that function within the Army. Helping soldiers with PTSD, amongst other things. The stresses of war and combat are very intense, combat is basically a group psychosis, and these people can use help. But I have grown up within the army. I'm an Army brat, grew up and live in Germany... so, to me, America, my home away from home, was always connected with the military in this sense. I've taken the tests before, and spoke to a recruiter. But back then I wanted to become an infantry man, and he tried SO HARD to get me to reconsider. JUST LOOK AT THOSE SCORES. He kept calling me at home, even my old man. It pretty much drove me in another direction. Thank god. |

I have serious authority issues....so I don't think I'd do so well in the military. |

I like the use of "fun" here. |

I was offered a job in the AF reserve as a flight medic (I was joining because they'd pay back my student loans and give me a living stipend while in school). I was four days from shipping out and changed my mind. A friend of mine (former Army, INFJ) who I hadn't seen for a while got a hold of me when he found out I was going and was like DO.NOT.GO! He laid out quite concisely how it would destroy my spirit (it did his) and that I would be bored out of my mind, and very lonely with only SJ's around for company. Thankfully I pulled my head out of my ass. |
