One thing I wonder is, if Bin Laden is the head of this whole big terror network, and we've mercilessly worked his colleagues over for information, using torture, secret prisons, kidnapping, etc., and we have all the world's most advanced weapons including non-lethal ones to attack his compound, he wasn't carrying a weapon, and the commandos were able to shoot the woman who ran in front of him in the leg, i.e. they have excellent aim and can hit a target anywhere they want to, why the heck didn't we capture him alive?

It seems quite clear our intention was to kill him, in spite of (or because of?) the information available in his brain.

For me it really reinforces the conspiracy theories that say our government was behind 9/11. Bin Laden actually denied responsibility for 9/11 for 3 years, even though the Bush administration declared he was responsible six days after the attack.

What if he was caught alive and we found out he didn't do 9/11?

One argument I could see is: "A living, imprisoned Bin Laden supplies inspiration for Al Quaeda to intensify its attacks. Bin Laden is unlikely to give up useful information. Therefore, kill him."

That reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney;

"Dead men tell not tales"

Now every time our government takes someone out that will be streaming through my head in the weird Pirate voice...
Sometimes a feeling is all we humans have to go on.
