I'm not sure what to think of this? If running for president and giving ridiculosly emotive speeches with no true intent upon action will get me a Nobel Peace Prize; I have my plans for 2012. Here I come Palin!!

Someone had a theory....and it was that Obama was given the prize not for what he's done, but to influence future decisions. My thoughts in response considered that if this logic were valid, then prisons should be full of tv screens telling inmates how wonderful and good they are, that they're helpful, useful members of society and will live up to their potential. >.> Positive expectation is all well and good.....but without reinforcing a goal and keeping on task, it doesn't matter how many ideals Obama dreams up. I don't think he has anyone being realistic and pragmatic with him.... "This is your plan, but these are the potential problem areas" Nothing worth having ever comes easy, and no matter how wonderful a concept sounds, it's not going to be perfect. Take communism. It's a nice idea to think that everyone can be equal and sharing a division of wealth and property amongst themselves.....but no matter how benevolent the concept, there are always those who can and will warp it to their own selfish and sometimes evil purposes. Blind idealism without a little bit of pragmatic analysis is a frightening and foolish thing, capable of taking on a life of its own far and away from the good it was intended for.

The Nobel peace prize awarded to Obama is really embarrassing I think. A small committee in my country is nominating one person each year. A lot of criticism has been raised domestically as well as internationally because Obama hasn't really done much for peace, even if he has good intentions. To defend some of the committee members: there was a dissidence and the decision wasn't unanimous. I have no idea what they were thinking...

Affirmative action doesn't apply for that one?

LOL. He got the "You Aren't George Bush" award.

Nominated two weeks after elected and only 2 years in the US Senate. If they would have given it to Sen Kennedy or Sen Bird with 40 years each in the senate that would have made more sense. What a joke.

With Gore's win and obama's win they turn this into politics pure and simple. That is a bad idea.

Well, to Gore's credit, he at least made an apocalyptic disaster movie which, even though I'm setting the bar low, counts for something. Obama is just a hopium dealer.

Not sure what you meant by that one? But I have to say I do agree with you about the idea of awarding him the award simply because his intentions and actions seem much less destructive than dubya's. I just think its the worst reason imaginable. P.S. Hopium, amazing!
