What is your favorite deadly sin? How would you rank them in order of preference?
The seven cardinal vices are defined as lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. My preference, ranking from most to least favorite, would be:
- Pride
- Greed
- Wrath
- Sloth
- Lust
- Gluttony
- Envy
I suspect that pride -- greatness of soul -- should be included among the virtues, not vices.
Greed, Sloth, and Wrath seem like they can go either way. Combined with wisdom, they translate into prosperity, leisure, and giving scumbags what they deserve.
Lust and Gluttony resemble a general no longer in command of his legions.
Envy makes even less sense to me -- it seems completely vulgar, like being pained when others do well, or wishing ignoble things upon noble people. |

1. Sloth
2. Pride
3. Greed
4. Lust
5. Wrath
6. Gluttony
7. Envy
Sloth is the deadly sin I commit the most. I haven't found that one thing that I can pursue my whole life, attempting to master it, so I tend to find myself doing nothing. I also require lots of leisure time to stay sane, so without sloth, I become an overstressed wreck. If only I could find my niche, I could stop wasting so much time.
And, of course, I am a victim of my own pride. I value myself to a probably obscene amount, but I feel that everyone should do so.
Who doesn't like having whatever they want, as much of what they want, and whenever they want it. Greed leads to ambition and advances in science and technology.
Lust and wrath are a favorite of mine because they remind me of the barbaric impulses that lurk within each and every one of us. Of course, some keep it hidden deeper than others, but it will always be there.
To me, gluttony goes hand-in-hand with greed, but with food and drink. I enjoy overindulging my body on occasion.
I rarely endure envy. I'm happy with what I have. |

I have to agree with you on pride. Surely our greek and roman counterparts would agree too. All those monotheists... Favorite sins 1. Lust 2. Greed 3. Pride (does this contain arrogance?) 4. Wrath (there is righteous wrath) 5 Greed (greed is good but greed for greed's sake is bad) 6 Sloth hate lazy 7 Gluttony ewwww |

Let's see.... 1. Sloth >.> Everyone has a different definition of laziness....but I think spending your weekends playing Left4Dead, forumtrolling, and watching anime are preeeeeeeeeeeeeetty lazy. And I enjoy every minute 2. Lust - not having experience doesn't mean I don't have a healthy appetite... Ack! Did I actually type that? 3. Pride - I don't have much, but the little I'm good at, I consider myself VERY good at. And no, that's not sexual...pervs. 4. Wrath - I has a temper. It doesn't come out much, but when it does.... I go to a scary, scary place and I want to provoke the person who pissed me off. 5. Greed - Everyone wants something just because they don't have it 6. Envy - A little bit of jealousy goes with wanting something you don't have...if someone else has it... 7. Gluttony - I do like food, and I'm not really picky about what I eat...but I have a super high metabolism too....and I haven't had a heart attack yet.... >.> The thing about the seven deadly sins is the emphasis on going overboard. Anything taken too far is going to cause issues....but there's something to be said for repressing them too. We're human. We're going to have desires every once in a while....but keeping them stifled will only make them explode in a bad way later. 1. take a day to chill out and do nothing. It's not a crime to take a break and relax 2. >.> you have a hand. 3. We all deserve a little credit for our contributions. Ask for it. 4. Go exercise. Scream. Find a healthy outlet for anger 5. A little purchase every now and then as a special reward for yourself won't put you in the poorhouse 6. Get a different shiny that someone else can be envious of 7. Treat yourself to something tasty every once in a while |

Yay for being slothful! And yeah, I'm pretty sure you did just type that. Hehe. And I agree with you on moderation. Indulge yourself... just do so responsibly. |

1. Lust
Sexual Gratification all the time sounds awesome, so awesome that if I had all the money in the world most of it would prolly go towards new and interesting ways to keep me tantalized, if i was gonna waste all my money on a deadly sin that is
2. Gluttony
I have been known to binge, and its the one thing I make the most rationalizations for, from chocolate, to pot, to knowledge
3. Sloth
Being lazy can be gratifying, mostly when you have something else to do, something about procrastinating is intensely enjoyable
4. Greed
Greed to me is linked to gluttony, but in the accumulation rather than the usage of such thing, I like having a lot of something. Keeps me from thinking about it.
5. Wrath
This has never benefited me, I've always wanted to do away with it, anything that I do while wrathful I'd MUCH rather do later, cold and calculating, with a smaller degree of error.
6. Envy
So useless, comparing myself to other humans is a waste of time, so many are children and the rest are children with guns
7. Pride
I agree that this is the deadliest sin, the worst sin, the most undesirable trait of humanity that I can think of, Pride of self, Pride of Country, Pride of Heritage. One of the most destructive traits that we carry around with us, believing that we are right because we are who we are. The merits of the position should not need our shoulders to stand upon, I believe the greatest evils of mankind are centered on Pride, and that it is the hardest sin to rid oneself of. |

1. Gluttony: Chocolate cake and I should NEVER be left unattended for more than 5 minutes. Ever.
2. Sloth: have the greatest of intentions, but sometimes I just can't be bothered. Procrastination is a big problem
3. Wrath: can be pretty negative about things, and I struggle with trying to like people
4. Envy: want what I can't have or do not currently have. Not in a materialistic sense
5. Pride: pride in oneself is a good thing
6. Lust: quite ambivalent
7. Greed: not really interested in acquiring "stuff"

1. Greed... I love my wallet. I have green paper in there that I hand to people and they give me stuff! It's rather nifty. 2. Lust... I love me a pretty guy, I'm not gonna lie. It's at or near the top of my list because I hang out w/ too many guys, and so the subject of sex is pretty much what gets talked about the vast majority of the time (ah... guys in their early 20s...), so it's on my mind a lot more than I'd particularly like... 3. Wrath... spending any time with the masses of winners on youtube will definately sharpen this. 4. Gluttony... I make some wicked Southern food, yes I do... Fried okra ftw. 5. Sloth... I have a memory foam matress... It's wicked comfy... 'nuff said. (I like the word "wicked" today) Add a True Blood marathon, and a plate of fried okra, and, well, you've got yourself a pretty nice afternoon, don't 'cha? 6. Pride... this one scares me 'cuz there's always someone waiting at the ready to knock yourself off that pedistal you've put yourself on... I prefer to try and not indulge in this one if I can... 7. Envy... I don't really care what others have... I care what I have... if I see something someone else has and I'm like "ooh, that's nifty" I may go try and get one for myself, but I don't particularly want theirs... |

1)Lust, Pride: I happen to be a very sexual and affectionate person. I am a humbled arrogance that kind of balances out... I guess
2)Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed: These are middle ground for me. Fun all the same. Moderation. Growing up I used to have a very bad head stomping temper (Being Irish, sweedish berserker.) So I leave embers dormant till someone close to me is wronged.
3)Envy: See Ben. See Ben standing before a crowd. See Ben being Ben. See Crowd envy Ben. |

1. Lust- Now dont get me wrong, Im not a one night stand kind of woman for the sake of sexual satisfaction. But when Im in a monogamous and relationship, my sexual appetite is so tireless that Ive had men that had trouble keeping up. If Im in love, its even worse.. I gotta show my love through expression!
2. Wrath- if I get crossed, duck ,cover, and watch out for flying words and the occasional flying obect! I have zero control, but its improving as Im getting older! I used to have no qualms about chucking something someones way, got that under control, but the angry words.. not under check at all. Whats more is I definately have a shit list that Im prone to actively maintain. :/
3. Gluttony- A heck of a lot better then I used to be. But man oh man, I will convince myself its okay to eat an entire cheesecake, or over do it on the drink from time to time...<---hardly EVER with that really, but still.. I think one time is one time too many...
4. Sloth- Chores are bores, and Im completely oblivious to them! Im totally okay with it though
5.Pride- admitting when Im wrong sucks. But Ive taught myself to be fully capable of swallowing that pill.
6. Envy- couldnt care less. Because if I want it, Im just as capabe of having it as the other person, no worries! Although when it comes to boyfriends I feel jealousy... but Im really good at keeping that in check with the fact that its MY insecurities operating, not anything that theyve done or deserve.
7. Greed- Nope. My fair share is my fair share, and Im totally cool with that. |

LOL! YES, CHEESE CAKE!
One of my worst/favorite gluttonous moments was a whole assorted cheese cake with an entire bottle of vodka. I'm not sure what I was trying to prove, maybe that it could done while walking from the store (I don't like carrying things, you see. I like my hands free or in use) At any rate, Got home just in time to throw up all my precious investment. Oh my the colors it was like a gay pride banner coming out of my mouth.
Sobered up and not hungry for cheese cake for a year or so I had to turn back on my left foot to my closet for a new suit and a shower. Moral of the story, Don't wear your good tie while eating cheese cake and vodka.
Any body have any other songs of sins taken too far?... or would it be, taken just far enough? Depends how you look at it I guess

Lust: The ENFP Male's Bane. The others just aren't as pertinent. Pride: Narcissism was never an ENFPs strength..... Greed: I am a bit materialistic - and would like more more more. Sure. Sloth: Yes, can fall prey to this at times, but Sloth leads to survival motivation - and the laundry gets done. Envy: Not really envious of others. And if I get a bit jealous, I always end up pointing the finger at myself for my downfalls, rather than blaming others.. Wrath: Hmmm. Way too forgiving. I fantasize about revenge sometimes, but it usually gets tempered at just that - fantasy. Sometimes I wish I had a bit of wrath in me. Gluttony: Virtually no issues here.
