I've always been a complete failure in school/college when doing maths. It bores me so much. Had to struggle really hard to get through it all. While on the other hand, almost all other subjects, the artsy ones in particular, came really natural to me.

Can anyone else relate to this? :p

Yeah, I'm pretty good at math. "good" In any case, I'm not "bad" at it. It is super, super boring though. Math was always my least favorite subject and I was always spacing out while doing math home work. I actually gave all the numerals colors and personalities just to make things more interesting.

I'm much happier with just about any subject. History, literature, and biology were some favorites....and music/art, duh.

Plain 'ol grammar is about on par with math though. Also, I started enjoying math a lot more once I got to algebra. Granted, I didn't start to actually like it or anything, but it was much more interesting than arithmetic.

High aptitude, low interest. Good in tests, bad in turning in assignments.

I was always good at understanding it, but made lots of stupid mistakes...I blame boredom and therefore losing focus mid-problem.

The ENFPs I know such at math. Math is not my cup of tea by any means, but I'm good at it. It is uber boring, agreed.

Yes, you SHOULD go to sleep if you're that tired. hehehe I thought you did that. Looking for a figure of speech to use, and just used the first one that came to mind.

Math. Rules. Blah. >.> I was actually pretty good at math, but the teacher kept giving me no credit for using my own equations (that worked...and I showed my work) because they weren't the ones he taught. I pretty much stopped caring after that.

I did that too Alysaria. I think you should get extra points for using your own equations, not deductions!! I had some decent math teachers that tended to cut me some slack in this regard.

Add me to the list. Good grades, when I could be bothered to turn in my homework, but I'd rather do pretty much anything else. I excelled in art, language and social science classes, and that's where most of my energy went. I can do math, but since the advent of the pocket calculator, it hardly seems necessary.

I actually quite liked calculus. The class was mostly concept-based, and it was really interesting once I got the hang of it. As far as actual math--I guess I'm pretty good at it; I've had a lot of experience with it, but I don't really find it fascinating. However, since at my school I'm in the creative writing department instead of math/science, I'm more able to explain the concepts in a way that others in non-MS departments could understand. However, that's probably more due to me understanding/using a more visual approach, as opposed to something related to the "art vs. math" temperament. I disagree with the idea that there needs to be a rift between them, while a lot of people at my school believe "if you're good at art, you're horrible at math, and if you're good at math, you're a bad artist..." etc.

I've always been really good at math, but horrible about doing any studying/paying attention in class/anything math related. Even with no effort put in, I got in the top 3 (1st,3rd,3rd) in my grade on 3/8 math competitions (Math Fax=olympiads). I'm also horrible about showing work and making stupid mistakes, although I'm not sure if that's my ADD or just my ENFPness lol.

I'm hitting my intuitive block with calculus. It's the first math class I can't study minutes before (on a test day), and still do fine.

I have to ask - how do they even teach calculus anymore? You can check every homework answer in Wolfram Alpha.
