I think I have accomplished a near miracle and managed to narrow down my career choices down to a few options.

1. Movie director

2. Musician

3. Founder of some famous environmental NGO

4. I wanna own a business, I know esxactly what kind but I wont tell ya cause you'll steal it!

5. Mayor of New York

Et vous

I'd like to do something either building websites (maybe), or more preferably modeling physics systems by building computer simulations.

At least, that's what I would have said, were this thread titled "what do you want to be if you grow up?" instead.

Those plans change roughly every semester, though.

My dream job would be a musician (professional percussionist), but I don't have the patience or the natural talent for it. I've been playing percussion (mainly marching snare, but I also play concert percussion) for six year.

I'd pay for that. Too much of my time is wasted when I lose something...

I just saw this thread, so I'm late to the party.

You young folks amaze me.  I'm getting closer to 50 by the minute and still don't have a clue what I want to do when I grow up.  LOL!!!  Honestly, I've spent my life doing what is/was required of me.  Now that I'm retired (hubby makes good money so I don't have to work), I'm crazy bored.

My passions are gardening and photography, but I've only recently realized that.

Granted, I love that I raised an awesome daughter - others have told me so - not just my opinion.  And I did really great work at my various jobs.  But I was never really "into" working.  You know - Girls just want to have Fun - especially ENFP girls.  LOL!!!

Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the bullshit, take chances, & never have regrets, because at one point, everything you did was exactly what you wanted.

I think there's a major assumption hidden in the question, i.e., that you will grow up  Beats me personally - when I was 5 I wanted to be a fireman. Now I'm 16 (and a twelth!), and it turns out I still want to be a fireman . Go figure

LOL!!!  LOL!!!!  Maybe that's my problem - I refuse to grow up.  I felt like such a grown-up as a child, that I'm finally having a childhood.  LOL!!!!

Then you should be a fireman.  That must mean you're cute.  I don't think I've ever seen an unattractive fireman.

Maturity is overvalued anyway I went to a production of Peter Pan yesterday. Gotta say, I can empathise with the boy who never wanted to grow up (not to mention that Tinker Bell looks pretty darn good in a tutu. Just sayin' ).

Then you should be a fireman.  That must mean you're cute.  I don't think I've ever seen an unattractive fireman.

I have to be cute to be a fireman? What about a pirate? I could still be a pirate couldn't I?

Blue, You can be anything you want to be. I think pirates are cute, too. Just like fireman. Except some of them from the Pirate movies were pretty gross. Actually, I've never seen a real pirate. Maybe it's just my image of a pirate. They should be cute. But I think everything should be cute. LOL!!!!

I kind of have a plan at this point. I want to major in psychology and then become a psychology teacher at a college. Then I can go back to school during summer to become a licensed counselor if I want or get a PhD. Or I could get various other jobs during the summer if I needed extra money. Becoming a teacher appeals to me because it means you have a lot of free time to do other things that you like. Like get a second job (during the summer) if you really cant decide on a career.
I also want to be a foster mom. But I don't know how realistic that would be... Doesn't seem to fit into my above plan...

So I'm going to study Audio Production for 4 years beginning 2011. This I've sorted, from there it's my list of pipe dreams.

I wanna work in multimedia, maybe something Radio/TV orientated hopefully afterwards. Seing how shows, songs and movies are made would give me A LOT of ideas to work with.

Some social science and community outreach programs OR teaching, I don't really care which one I'd just like to try either with the right situation.

And eventually making music as soundtracks for TV/Movies.

I have a lot of random other things I'd like to have done in life, but as far as work and careers go that's the aim.

Too bad I have to be stubborn and find things that interest me for goals.

I hate 90% of things I see these days but when I don't, I truly love it.

I've come to conclusion the best things in life just weren't meant for public consumption.

When I eventually grow up I would like to be more assertive. I would also like a bigger rack. Kinda getting sick of wearing egg cups for bras...
Okay I'm exaggerating. But it would be nice

I want to be a paleozoologist, focusing on mammals from the Paleogene-present. And a taxidermist in my spare time.

But... I won't be. Instead, I will be a graphic artist, or a biological illustrator, assuming my current plans work out.

Sometimes I wish I were foolish enough to chase my dreams.
