It's nice in that I can set my own hours....and being an ENFP, I can approach even the most hostile of strangers. ^_^ No one can use sheer enthusiasm to get people to spill their life stories quite like an ENFP. XD |

I've had over 15 jobs and I'm an intj... It's not necessarily an enfp thing. It can be a student having to work different jobs while studying thing. I started my 'career' at 13, when I worked at a grocery store. I've had a steady job and a steady income since then. |

The ENFP part of it is quitting at the drop of a hat because it doesn't "feel right" or because the boss is an SJ who has taken a dislike to the way ENFPs have no real boundaries between work and play....and can be efficient without looking busy.... SJ bosses, especially STJ bosses, can be very very nitpicky about looking busy or following protocol even when it makes no sense....and ENFPs, unlike INTJs, can't just quietly bypass the rules and bend the employer to their will after showing how much better the INTJ way is... No... ENFPs have to put up a stubborn fight - criticism is personal, so we get all defensive.... If the SJ thinks we don't clock in early enough, we come in an hour early and just hang around obnoxiously until it's time to work. We'll open up the employee handbook and find ways to fight fire with fire, using specific wording to emphasize why we're alright to wear denim dress pants because the dress code just says "jean style" isn't appropriate. Eventually, the SJ just thinks the ENFP is antagonistic and belligerent and either fires them or finds a way to make them miserable until they quit on their own. >.> And the only good jobs I've ever had closed after a few months. I dunno....I suppose I could see an INTJ storming out of a job that didn't appreciate their hard work....people in general like to be appreciated....but there are few types that experience more relief than concern after just quitting a job without any real plans for a backup or any idea what to do afterward than an ENFP. I could get addicted to the feeling of freedom that follows the end of a job. |

I'm getting bored of #5 already after less than a year. I usually don't leave because of a mean boss. I usually get them to like me just enough to not be able to call me on the shit I pull like: being 20-50 minutes late every day, spending only 1/4 of my time actually working, bringing my dog to work almost everyday even though no other pets are allowed, taking more sick days than are allowed even though I haven't been sicker than a stuffy nose in the last two or three years, randomly leaving for two hours in the middle of the day to go surfing. I thought I'd last a while at this one though because it's a consulting job so we have different work coming up every month or two, but they still have me working on the same project that I worked with on my first day last October. I mean it's in a field I actually enjoy and they do give me new stuff every once in a while, but it's only a hour or two of work usually. I'm sick of sitting at a desk, inside, all day and want some outside work.
1) Radioshack salesperson
2) Ceramics instructor at kids camp
3) Asst Manager at hydroponic store
4) Intern at iPhone software startup (told my supervisor 'I don't think this is for me' after 4 days, can anyone beat that for shortest employment?)
5) Data analysis for environmental engineering/oceanography business
I'm thinking of getting into a more 'people oriented' career and trying to become a field guide for an outdoor adventure trip company leading trips or expeditions or something like that. Or working as a surf instructor maybe, I don't know. The grass on the other side of the fence is looking greener ever day...does anyone else finds this happen to themselves once they realize they want to be doing something else? |

ALWAYS. with everything. i fear that i am doomed to either never have a solid career, which i would kind of like... or possibly i can stick it out, but i might go through cycles of hating my career. maybe i can go about it from the angle of coming in with a different perspective, you know? like sometimes you can be super people-oriented, and other times not, sometimes really focused on certain things, sometimes others... etc...
the worst part is that, for me, it doesn't even happen once i realize i want to do something else. it happens once i realize i've made a committment. then i get freaked out that i'm trapped. and i WANT OUT. |
