Hi all! My name is Danielle but my nickname is Dani. Well, that is one of many nicknames I have/have had but this is the longest running of them all. Lol.
I am an ENFP. I've taken the Myers-Briggs a few times and the result is always the same. I am a staunch ENFP. Never changing in my personality type yet always changing in my actual life.
I'd love to learn more about the types and relate to other ENFPs.
Thanks. |

Hey Dani! Welcome to the forum. I have a friend named Dani, actually. Only her actual name is Daniela. <--She's Venezuelan. What are some of the other nicknames people have called you? What's your favorite part about nighttime? Do you live in a city or in a rural-ish town, and which do you think you prefer best? |

Welcome. What do you like about ENFP that makes you a "staunch ENFP"? |

In response to Sakari: Hmm... other nicknames people have called me... Okay, Dizzy, Pretty Girl, Quack Quack, Bon Bon (that's what the Mexican guys call me at work), D... can't think of any others at the moment. My favorite part about nighttime would have to be how mysterious it is. I'm not sure if that is exactly how you would articulate the "feeling" I get from it. Night seems exciting and intriguing. When I am alone at night, I feel like I might be the only person awake in the world and I am breaking some sort of universal rule. When I am out, it seems as if there are endless possibilities. I live in a large metro area, the DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth). I would love to live in a large city such as New York or L.A.. I don't think I would do well in a rural setting. It would be exciting at first but I'm sure I would run out of things to entertain me quite quickly. Nope. Need lots of external stimuli. In response to JerseyCityENFP: I find myself quite proud of all of my ENFP qualities; I like the fact that I thrive on human interaction and I wouldn't know what to do without my emotions; they are pretty much what defines me. Intuition has always come naturally for me; my parents always thought I was very wise and, as a young child, my mom would often ask me for advice (in fact, I was more of the parent growing up; kind of hurtful thinking in retrospect). The perception part I don't know if I completely understand yet. From what I read, it means that I prefer to "keep my options open". I think I just want things to to be ever changing. As soon as I make a decision, I easily take it back and choose another option. I guess that's what they mean. I like being open but it is a little bothersome to get so easily bored and not be able to stick something through. Okay, I think I went off on a tangent. Sorry.

"Pretty Girl" is right. I love your avatar! Don't you love that feeling when it's nighttime and you look up and you can see the stars and there's that really small yet big feeling you get in your chest. xD Yeah, me too. Although I love the idea of a quaint rustic house, away from all the other people...that's just it, it's only an idea. |

Thanks Sakari. =) Don't you just love ANYTHING that gives you that feeling in the chest? I know exactly what you're talking about. It's a sort of euphoric feeling huh? Thanks for the welcome Alysaria. Is that your actual name? You don't have to answer that. If so, that is an awesome dreamy name. |

I think I went off on a tangent. Sorry.
Welcome Danstar! So Tangents are encouraged here. Or co-sines.
So How did you find us? What is your lightsaber color? What is your enfp super power? Are you a cript or blood?

Thanks everyone. Sure do know how to make a gal feel welcome.
Found you guys by way of insatiable curiosity and a search engine. My lightsaber color is green and my super power is reading minds. Hehe. Oh, and in regards to my gang affiliation, I'm a Hells Angel actually (hence the do-rag). ;-) |

lol... that sucks! A lot of college professors (at least here) do that sort of thing too, for some reason. Who cares if the class is a co-req? You must basically know everything in it after about a month or so. If you need any help on anything, by all means let me know. I'm a junior physics major, so I've had a ton of it, and the INTPs who have asked have told me I'm very good at explaining things. I'm definitely a physicist and not a mathematician, though, so I can't do the detailed proofs that they can... but I can pin calculus ideas to physical situations fairly often. Just keep away from sequences and series' XD. What does your dad do, that he knows the stuff well enough that he assumes you know it too? |

Sort of. He's an aeronautical engineer. The type of person who was so smart he beat out a lot of other people for a chance to come to the US. Therefore, lots of pressure to live up to his intellect. |

*nods*, gotcha. Am I right in interpreting your tone that that's depressing, at times? How does it... play out? Is there anything he could have done better so that you felt less pressured? |

He teaches me calculus when I'm home. I'm already ahead of the class. But I'm supposed to be further ahead somehow? I don't know, it just annoys me. |

*hugs*. Yeah... I mean, I can completely understand why that would annoy you, for sure.
I meant to aski that in a more general sense, though. I'm still young(ish), so I was hoping to pick up some tips on some of the pitfalls parents can make, so that I don't fall into them myself. I really, really hope (if I ever have kids someday--which I probably won't, but that easily may change. xNxP and all) that I can bring them up to be wise, thoughtful people. I want to be able to teach them anything and everything that I think I've learned over the course of my life. That's why I was sort of curious, as to what you think would be good things for someone like me to watch out for, because I could see myself sort-of being like that if I'm not careful.
Of course: by all means feel free to just tell me you don't want to talk about it, if you'd rather avoid talking about it or anything. |

I guess it's that his expectations are so much higher than everyone else's, simply because he himself lived up to them. He has strict rules and ideas about what I should do, so I can't really tell him what's preventing me from doing my work. Communication is a big issue. He also has a sense of pride that takes precedence over a lot of things. I told him once that I was upset because one of my friends had died, adding "Shut up!" at the end. He slapped me for telling him that and told me that millions of people die each day--do I cry for them? Which basically shut the door to any sort of positive communication.
I wish he'd take the time to try and find out what's bothering me. He assumes that because I don't tell him these things, I don't have problems--when in reality, I just don't want to because I know he won't understand at all. |
