A clean desk?  That's just...just...unnatural!

even when ironing i'll say "ok i'll do these two shirts" then when they are done "ok maybe 2 more" and by the end i've done everything. Otherwise i would just look at the pile, think "ugh not gonna do that" and wander off somewhere.

Ironing? Why don't you just throw the shirt in the dryer for 5 minutes if it's wrinkled or pull it out right after dryer? I will totally do anything to keep from having to do more work later. Ironing seems so un-necessary/inefficient most of the time.

I'm suffering at the moment from having to clear my ISFP mothers house, as I've moved back in with her. She has Parkinson's disease, and my father died ten years ago and I find it really difficult to go thru stuff of his. I tend to hoard because I was deprived as a child, plus I get bored with things quickly and need to be stimulated. My mother hoards for a different reason, which I think is security, as she is of the guardian type. We have huge misunderstandings as she worries about me throwing out her personal things.
I worry about finding items from my past which will bring back feelings from my childhood.
On occasions I have been big-headed. I think most people are when they get in the limelight. I call myself Big Head just to remind myself not to be. Brian Clough Read more: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/b/brian_clough.html#ixzz1Gi34lDrp

@Seamonkey,
I think my mother is so crazy that it's hard to apply her to an MBTI type...but she is also terrified that I would throw away her precious junk, so I do not try and help her clean any more. I really no longer understand trying to hold onto belongings as a way of holding onto the past. As far as I'm concerned, the best ways to maintain a connection with the past are (a) Friends. This is the best way. (b) Pictures and (c) writings. None of those things take up actual physical space! Of course, I am saying this while mired in moving hell....so who knows if I'll regret getting rid of so much in a few months or years.

@zvezdar
Thanks for the tip on breaking stuff down into doable chunks. I read "The Now Habit" by Nick Fiore (thanks to the recommendation of someone on the ENFP forum) and that was one of the key strategies he recommended.

AnnaK, I used to also be horrible about washing dishes, for years. Someone taught me a really good trick and my sink's been empty for the last 7 months and counting: every time I get anything dirty, I wash it immediately and put it on the drying rack. I do this even while I am preparing a meal. That way it doesn't build up and intimidate me so I never want to start washing dishes. I will make an exception if something needs to soak, but the moment it's washable, I wash it. It's been a godsend.

Of course, you know what happened then -- my drying rack was always overflowing b/c I delayed putting things away. So now I created a routine for that: before I was my cereal bowl every morning, I put away everything on the drying rack. It works like a charm. I find that I may be sloppy, but if I create a system, I can adhere to it & get cleanliness.

I misaddressed that to AnnaK. I meant lindzmarie.
