I've read that ENFPs tend to have a hard time sleeping. It's most definatitely true for me. I've had insomnia since I was maybe 10 or 11.
Anyone else?? |

I have it... and I've had it since probably the same age. It sucks, and it really interferes with school.
I'm also notoriously difficult to wake up because I get so little sleep in the first place so when I finally fall asleep my body goes into hardcore sleep mode. |

It depends.. It usually goes by " What keeps you awake at night?" rather than actual hardcore insomnia.. .. I know this sounds somewhat unusual, but generally, the suffering of others and just knowing that someone I know is going through pain, or that there is still tonnes of exploitation and poverty in 3rd world countries --> all keep me up at night.. Thoughts can disturb me a lot.. It's not just sleeping.. I can distract myself so much with thought that I won't eat for a couple days.. I haven't been wildly distracted by thought for a long time, but I feel as though as an ENFP I am often the go-to man.. So people who are having serious issues will come to me and spill everything for a shoulder to cry on.. Sometimes I get no sleep, but at least it is for a good purpose.. |

I probably would have insomnia except I exercise like crazy! It keeps me sane. |

I often have trouble getting to sleep, but once I'm out, I'm out. you can pretty much do anything to me or be as loud as you want. I won't wake up till morning. Most of my friends know by now too that if they come into my room in the night and I'm in bed, if I sit up and talk to them I'm probably asleep and won't remember the conversation in the morning. |

I definitely have a hard time sleeping. Or at least FALLING asleep. For me, my mind races at night thinking about....well, everything!!! If it's not the uncertainties in my own life, it's the future of humanity! I've had trouble falling asleep since I was very young, at least middle school. It would take me an hour or two to fall asleep on any given night. And I also tend to sleep in late, or have a hard time waking up. I find I tend to need more than the average amount of sleep for most people - average is like 7-8 hours I need more like 8-9 hours a night to really feel rested. I'm also a very "active" sleeper. I was a chronic sleepwalker and sleeptalker as a child. I also tent to thrash and kick all night, so I don't know if there is any correlation between that and needing more sleep. I've started taking 2mg of Melatonin to help me relax and fall asleep. It works so long as I go to bed at a reasonable time. I also do yoga when I get a chance, as it helps me free my mind. It's especially effective right before bed. I'm also extremely sensitive to stimulants like caffeine so if I drink coffee or pop or eat chocolate like after supper it makes my heart race and I'm up all night. |

I get the active sleeper thing, my parents have some pretty amusing stories of me... going to bed at a reasonable time is a good thing to do... If only that were possible in college... *sighs wistfully* |

I was a sleepwalker / talker as a child as well. And I really need, at least, 8 hours of sleep to function well. And I have very vivid dreams which I can return to willfully. Yoga does help. And I think I require a huge amount of excercise to work off nervous energy caused by thinking too much. I'm not getting enough to be sure. Melatonin does help sometimes, though not all. |

I found some hypnotic videos that help induce lucid dreaming recently, I haven't really had any lucid dreams but I've been sleeping easier and sounder |

Sort of, yeah! When I was younger it would take me a long time to fall asleep. I just couldn't shut my mind down. Mom and Dad would tell me to just think about nothing. When I tried doing that I started seeing the "nothing" spelled out. Then the colors of the letters started changing and the letters starting dancing around with millions of blinking lights..... I'm a bit better at sleeping now. Exercise helps a lot! So does alcohol. I'm a very light sleeper though. My various roommates throughout the years have had to deal with this. I'm very cranky when I don't get enough sleep. Plus, I am just super high strung. I wish I were a genius so I would have an excuse.... Ooh, and I talk and sing in my sleep! Sometimes my roomies will tell me what I say in my sleep. One time, I was told that I was singing then started going, "No, no, no, no, no..." |

I followed the steps to have a lucid dream and it totally worked! |

I went through a phase were I was so into lucid dreaming!!! I had all these books, but I never could quite get the hang of it. I think it was because I was in school at the time and not getting enough sleep to begin with. Once I get to sleep I'm an extremely deep sleeper. My mom used to joke that I'd sleep through an air raid. Nadette, I'm the opposite, alcohol keeps me awake!! In college I spent many sleepless nights drunk/hungover and exhausted and utterly unable to sleep. I'm a happy drunk until I've hit my limit on exhaustion, then with zero resiliency I crash and end up being a complete party-pooper. Or I get emotional. Reason why I've vowed never to drink again like I did through my first 2 years of college!!!! Aevi, mine do too! Best was the time I sleepwalked into my little sisters room (that used to have been mine), sat down on her bed, started shaking her and screaming, "get out of my bed, get out of my bed!!!". My parents came running in only to realize I was sound asleep! I've also gone downstairs and stood in front of the open fridge for like 5-10 minutes, then I turn around and walk back upstairs. I wonder if this kind of behavior is more common in ENFPs because our minds seem to always be going. |

My ENFP ex had this problem of getting to sleep most of the time, except around me. It was pretty funny. She was in school and then when she'd come visit, she would have constantly been running around, so sometimes she'd come over, sit on my couch, and then just pass out. Or I'd walk into a different room and I'd come back and she'd have passed out on my bed. I think if memory serves me correctly, one time she might have fallen asleep on my floor...? I would have been bothered if I didn't realize it was a good thing because it meant she was comfortable. |

My favorite story of my sleep walking is when i was a little kid my parents would see me come downstairs, go into the bathroom, use it, flush the toilet, wash my hands then go back upstairs and to bed completely asleep. As for alchohol if I go to bed a little bit drunk I have trouble getting to sleep cause I keep thinking the pillows I'm not using are a person, but I don't know who it is so I can't decide whether to cuddle them or not, this conondrum is usually enough to keep me up until ive sobered up a bit. |

^^ Funny!! I once had a dream, or what seemed to be an actual experience, of a random arm in my bed. I was tired so I tried to stuff it against the wall and then down in between the bed and the wall so it wouldn't keep me awake anymore. I literally looked under the bed for an arm in the morning since it seemed so real.

Add me to the list. I've had sleep problems since I was a child. I have trouble getting to sleep, and then I have trouble staying asleep. Some nights I wake up five or six times, and sometimes I wake up just once, but stay awake for two or three hours. A solid night's sleep is a rare luxury and cause for much rejoicing. |

^^ Have you tried some sort of routine, like reading 20 pages before going to bed or listening to something on Pandora for awhile? I know, I know. I just mentioned "routines" to an ENFP, but hey, it might help calm your brain down some to sleep. |
