hiya everybody! i not been here for ages, i randomly got lost. just found it again, anyway, have u been able to accuratley get someones type right by just looking at someone, maybe their behaviour, or the things they do? the clothes they wear, anything,? can another enfp just intuitively know by looks alone, is it possible, ? |

Hi aprilla! I'd think it would be pretty hard to type people accurately just by looking at someone. You can make an educated guess, but there are so many factors to include, it'd be difficult. I've become quite good at typing from looks, I can't type all letters, but I'm automatically attracted to Ns and notice Ns somehow. Something stands out and I recognize the style/thinking and I like what I see. Remember that typing is based on self assessment, so it doesn't matter what other people think, you are the only one who can decide which preferences you identify with. |

i kind of thought that, clothing/ and body image, and movement dosen't count. on socionics though, the enfp trype is described kind of wacky dresser, things unmatching, almost romantic or gypsy. which i kind of dress like |

Watching some of the type videos on youtube, there are DEFINITELY mannerisms that the types have. ENFPs sway and have lots of random hand gestures when they talk....also, I dare you to watch the first few seconds of each ENFP video just to see the expression when they say "I'm an ENFP." I swear to you, it is the SAME EXPRESSION - a slight eyeroll and both eyebrows go up, as if it's some big inside joke that they're giving themselves a label. Also the occasional interruption of their own thoughts to point something out.... disclosure is a big ENFP trait, even when it's not necessary....like if I suddenly stop mid-sentence and announce that there is a spider on my wall.
INTJs lean in a lot, as if to imitate a deep, one-on-one conversation...and -giggles- STEEPLE FINGERS!
INFPs make faces. Lots and lots of faces. You'd think ENFPs would be the goofiest in their videos, but you would be wrong. ENFPs lower their voices and try to sound more serious when explaining type. INFPs actually approach it in more naturally....and all their strange little quirks pop into the videos. There's actually a really nice 3 part interview between an INFJ and an INFP about their types....and the INFP has so many random little moments that reminded me of my INFP friend. >.> That and almost constant nodding when the INFJ is talking and a very intent "I'm listening" expression.
INFJs talk very, very softly....almost universally, they are the most soft-spoken type in the youtube vids. As for mannerisms, nose wrinkling and a slight little eye squint when explaining something important.
ISTJs....look and speak like they're in an interview. Key word - eye contact. It's almost disconcerting.
ESFPs are LOUD....and babble. They just keep going. Endlessly. At a crazy pace.
I didn't watch any other types really....but as a side note....there are no ESTJ videos. NONE.

Women: ESFJ and to a lesser extent SJ and ESFP women have perfect eyebrows. Dead give away. When eyebrows are perfectly painted on, not one hair out of place BIG J and SJ sign on women. Also I've noticed that Ss in general have much better skin. They take care and have far less blemishes. Or they pay attention to make up more to hide them. ENTP women are little fireballs. Can dress stylish if they want to. Can range from no style when focused to overthe top. same as men, witty and can be very fun. one of the intellectual boys INTJ women Only know two. One dressed like a boy. the other like an ISTJ ISTJ: women conservative appropriate will still look put together. can be confused with NT at first. Want to be judged as a thinking person not a sexual object but understand they need to look a certain way. Usually wont flaunt their stuff, but sometimes can. (was married to one) ISFJ: Apologize alot. easy going. dress like esfps May get made up, but usualy will like comfort in clothing with rings, braclets. Some isfjs have a real creative streak in outfits ESFP: wild, drunk, drama, not enough N to realize what they are doing. They will look less put together than ESFJs. Often will have a laid back outfit. Tight Tshirt and jeans with 'kicks. ENFP: reflect mood and personality in what they wear, electic and funky ENTJ S Men: have more neat hair. Usually short. Js are less likely to have hair out of place. ESTP: Golf shirts and kakis well trimmed hair. Will wear what ever is in style or appropriate, big in name brands ESFP men love t-shirts and jeans, much more on comfort and a laid back comfort on how they feel, have a hard time dressing formal. ISFP depending on intelligence will can look like an ENFP or INFP can be more radical dressing than NF ISTP men... Utility. what is most efficient and comfortable, any brands would directly and logically reflect what they are. (usually don't like brands unless they are a utility brand or a tool) ISFJ men:? ESTJ seems to me more about what is appropriate, logical and utility dressers and look. Never much pazzaz or funky anything. ENTP: can varry, can be stylish and witty, can be typical NT. You never know with these guys INTP: lol leave me alone I hate clothes INTJ: What ever is utilitus or approporate no fancy stily NF men always a little funky and quirky. We synthesize style. ENFP: reflect mood and personality in what they wear, eclectic and funky INFP: muted enfp. Eh good enough for now |

You know sbalbom,
I see lots of women with these eyebrows... a friend I know has them. She does seem like ESFP too.

Well that settles it. My sister must be an ESFJ. She's like the ultimate diva and never goes anywhere without making herself perfect, eyebrows and all <3 |

I think you can approximately tell just by the look. Socionics also has a description of sorts for how various types look.
I personally go by the look of the face.
Withdrawn/Unpleasant for I Somewhat more relaxed or friendly looking for E
(vague description) Larger eyes that seem to be able to see farther, and a person you can imagine an "I'm thinking deeply" stare from, for N, vs. the feeling of shallowness/simplicity from S... like their faces aren't used to forming expressions that imply complex thought.
T - tougher/harder looking - people who can stand pain, people who can't be hurt easily on an emotional level... people who don't think in personal terms vs. the softer look of an F (of course, being able to understand and relate to people's feelings definitely has value)
J/P... this I'm not sure about at all. People with strong opinions and likely to be judgemental might have harder jaws and a harder look but MBTI judging isn't so much judgemental, as it is scheduled/organized/specific vs. P for not. I think you can kinda tell.... Listen to your gut (Use your intuition)
Confirm with asking questions, to improve your intuition.
An ESFJ friend of mine, actually looks like an N to me. I think he was, when we were kids, and then he adapted and adapted and adapted to life, and sadly conformed to the normal. So you see deep thought - expressed almost never... not that it isn't there, just that he's conforming to expectations. |

O.o By that description, I'd be an S Zsych. ENFPs are masters of the vague stare....it's one of our evasive maneuvers |

I had botox round my eyes once, and I had nothing going on except the vague stare of doom. Be wary of people who's skin looks like a banjo, when looking at faces to type. Oh god it hurt when I couldnt feel the squidges in my nose. |

Well that settles it. My sister must be an ESFJ. She's like the ultimate diva and never goes anywhere without making herself perfect, eyebrows and all <3 Mine too! I used to watch her epic routine in awe/horror: fake tan, fail nails (fingers & toes), teeth whitening, plucking, slathers of makeup, spritzing with expensive perfume, hair straightening, adding fake hair pieces, adding breast inserts to accentuate shape/size, new shoes (of course, NO pair of 100s match *this* outfit), new bag. 2 hours later she's ready. She was criticising my cuticles the other day as they're ugly apparently. ??? INTJ does cost/benefit analysis, realises throwing on a pretty dress, heels, mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss, and a spritz of sexy perfume is just as successful in the pub/club setting for us as dolling up fully (i.e. INTJ rarely pick up at pubs/clubs), and uses the 1.5 hrs saved to finish that fantastic book and gawk at the ESFJ. |

-nod nod- My other sister is an ISFJ...and between the two of them, I got all sorts of criticism about my just-roll-out-of-bed ENFP look. I can remember my sister telling me I have nice fingers...it's too bad my nails are horrible. O.o I'd rather have the extra hour to sleep in the morning than deal with prettying up. >.> My INTJ sister-in-law used to take me clothes shopping....she used to get so excited because I've always been a skinny little thing and can wear almost anything. |
