Ni as a suggestive (5th) function - ENFP and ENTP

The individual is attracted to people who are confident in their ability to evaluate where present trends are leading and to choose the opportune moment to initiate action, or to refrain from it. The individual is impulsive but at the same time desiring of not going too far in his impulsiveness and unsure of his own ability in this area, so people who are confident on how far to go and when to stop are admired and their company is desired. The individual also longs for a sense of greater meaning in his life beyond the immediately physical and enjoys the company of people who can show him the light in that area.

Ni as a base (1st) function - INTJ - INFJ

As a base function, Introverted Intuition generally manifests itself through a lack of direct attention to the world around oneself, and a sense of detachment or freedom from worldly affairs. This can lead to a highly developed imagination and very unique mental world, but it can also result in a great deal of laziness and apparent inactivity. Because the individual gets his/her primary information about the world through imagination, a person with base Introverted Intuition may be able to thrive in situations where data are scarce, or where he/she lacks the usual prerequisite experience. However, this may also become a disadvantage if the person ignores real data about the world too much. The ability to transcend the axis of time and understand the cause and effect relationships that occur is also a feature, sometimes resulting in the ability to accurately predict general future trends and outcomes of certain events.

Image:symbol_t.gif as a creative (2nd) function

The individual likes to predict the further development of the situations and topics that he is interested in. The individual applies his highly developed sense of vision not as an end in itself, but as a way of promoting the development of his more central interests and activities.

Image:symbol_t.gif as a role (3rd) function

The individual is able to turn his attention to longer-term implications and personal imagination but only for brief periods; his natural preference is to concentrate on the immediate surroundings and sensations, or on the job at hand. If poorly developed, this function can lead him to extensively plan his future while failing to evaluate his reasons for doing so.

Image:symbol_t.gif as a vulnerable (4th) function

The individual prefers to focus on immediate tasks, taking things as they come, rather than try to evaluate the outcome of present trends. Inclination to tell stories or narrate events on a sequential basis, rather than outlining how one event led to another.

He perceives time in an undifferentiated manner: the past, present, and future are all perceived as being in or near the present. When talking about the future (especially one's longer-term plans), the individual treats it as if it were accessible today and often is not aware of all the developments that must happen first.

He generally has a poor sense of how long things will take and what the best amount of time to spend on things is. Therefore it is difficult for him to stay on schedule without extensive (even total) pre-planning.

Yup, i definitely seem 'away with the fairies' most of the time and I lack attention to concrete details, like car colour (after living with the owner for 12 months) and even skin colour.

highly developed imagination and very unique mental world

Constantly zoned out and daydreaming. Good at conceptualising new information. Come across as weird. Like I was at the zoo with friends and at the giraffes I said jokingly "I wonder what happens if a giraffe has to vomit?" Cos really, that's a long way from stomach to mouth and even further from mouth to floor! Ewww... Anyway, I thought it was an amusing mental picture, but my friend looked confused and said "is that supposed to be funny?" YES!

a great deal of laziness and apparent inactivity

Yeah, used to hate when Mum came home and asked "what have you done all day?" Physically, nothing but mentally a whole lot of processing happened, ok? Thinking and daydreaming are still activities, it's just hard to quantify the progress you've made.

Dead-on. My prediction ability is spooky, verging on psychic (not that I believe in that). We're outstanding at collecting data, noticing details and patterns that others do not, and projecting results.

I'm not sure about the rest of the statements though.

@ Esquilax: hi 5 sistah!! We're two of a kind. I recognize what is said about Ni as a base function and all that you said, especially the processing part. My brain feels so busy... and I'm also quite lazy!

I feel oddly split though. Since I'm into photography I've also had to develop my Se and it seems quite strong (I'm referring to the post where I showed my cognitive function.) When I photograph, I have to notice details and can focus on very small details, like patterns in the snow or sand or just different hues of colors etc, isn't that using Se? I've had to spend years to develop it though, 10-15 years ago I was oblivious to things like that.

I also recognize the statement about being able to thrive in environments/situations where I have no prerequisite experience. My first time under water as a diver, I felt right at home. I absolutely loved it. There is nothing in the real world that can prepare you for being able to be a guest in another environment and be able to breathe under water, and be a spectator to the life there. I didn't want to leave. Alas, I ran out of air so I had to surface  My ISTJ ex husband felt very insecure and stressed, was worried about all kinds of malfunctions and all the things that could go wrong. Luckily, you can 't talk to your buddy under water, so I didn't know about his worries until after. I'm an assistant dive instructor now and I've learned that most people are very worried and anxious during their first few times diving. It's understandable, but for me it was like coming home.

ahh.... careful. Just so you know, you're mixing socionics and MBTI... which is understandable, given that they all use the same names for each, but also may cause a whole lot of confusion.
