Frustrated.

Recently picked up a new arts&crafts hobby with all the zest and passion of someone who's been at it for years. Researched, purchased supplies, and even started the activity. Halfway through and already the fire's starting to wane. Tonight I looked at the box with a somewhat heavy sigh, and am wondering if I could use said supplies for something else.

I've read that ENFP's start new things often leaving them unfinished, and am wondering where exactly does that fire go?! Because a couple weeks ago, I could've sworn I was going to finish this project, goshdarnit, and even start making fun little things to give as gifts to all my friends!

My other question would be - was it because maybe I wasn't even interested in the first place? I remember so many times replying to someone "How do you know you won't like it if you don't try it?" Now I'm wondering if that is really possible, and how can I figure this out for myself!? Hmph.

The trick is for Ps is to have several projects at once. You will get board on any and all projects. I have to cycle every 40 min from one work project to an other often working on at least 10 things per day.

Lets see how long it takes me to finish the MBTI video series.

Big problem I have is the Ti. I start a project, my Te takes over and I get 5%-10% and I underestimate the time, energy and resources to take the project. Thats an other story.

Ok hm...so how would one go about developing the Ti? I've read the desriptions but in practical terms, what could I do? Meditate? I journal/write my thoughts out, but isn't that Te?

So you have multiple projects going on at once...does using your Ti mean you're just thinking about how to get all of them accomplished? (Sorry if this seems facetious or obtuse, I'm genuinely curious and English was not my first language so a lot of inferences go over my head - aka. concrete examples please!)

Some tips:
Take breaks between your devotion to your hobbies/projects. Do something else, for example start another hobby, then do your old hobby/project again as 'balance'. Get yourself a book from the library, or 2 so you can toggle them (But remember yourself to write a BIG note on the calender to when you have to turn it in!!!) Reading fantasy novels is nice balance for art/music, i found. At the time being i mostly read fanfictions, but they begin to get boring, as they all seem to copy from each other... Take a break from your hobby and take a walk outside maybe (enjoy and appreciate the nature?), talk to others(! - Es get energy from extroverting! Having someone do it with you can sometimes help you going through with it), etc. etc.

Often when i have to learn for university, i take occasional breaks where i take my guitar and just strum on it a few times while humming a melody... Then about 5-20 minutes after, i go to learning again. It's refreshing.

Listen to a radio in the background while doing your hobby/project, or have the tv on so you have something else to hear in the background. Listen to music while you do it. This way you also get new information and might see or hear something interesting...
If you have to do something and don't want to, then make it nice and interesting for you - imagine your hero X and by doing this you will achieve Y, or something silly like you are on your path to world domination and this is the first step, turn on music in the background, hang posters into your room that make you smile or laugh...

also: divide and conquer! I don't like ironing, but i often have to do it to get my shirts ironed... so i just trick myself and just take 3 shirts from the pile in the other room and take them to the room with the ironing board instead of the whole pile (if i take the whole pile i will think of all the work it will cause me that may be better spent doing less boring thinghs and then i won't do it). Then after those three i will decide again if i want to take another 3 shirts to the room. While having the radio on so that i can hear something that distracts me from the boring task of ironing my clothes. If someone passes by, i will sometimes start a light conversation with them (only light - don't want to get too distracted). I cannot watch tv while ironing, tv is way too distracting and then i forget that i have to iron my clothes

I hope that helps you.

And if not... then I am sure you will come up with something

Thank you very much for your tips - they did help when I was doing regular chores (cleaning/laundry folding, etc) but when I sat down to my new hobby, the music just made me get up and start dancing! Haha!

Well, so what did I do? Typical ENFP? I got some friends together and made an activity of it! It was soothing - hearing their voices helped me concentrate, which I hope they did not think I was ignoring them! But I also was able to chime in from time to time when I heard a key word of interest or needed a break. Then I could start chatting away and relieving that stress.

I was wondering why the difference - I think because maybe I have too much an emotional investment in my new hobby and wanted to make everything "just right". I was overthinking it, but when my friends were around me, I was able to relax more. It was fun

Anyone else have tips to share when trying to complete something?

Thanks again!
