I learned to dance through college parties and copious amounts of alcohol and equally intoxicated women. I was always way too shy and nervous to dance when I was younger, and as a result, I never went to a single high school dance or even the prom (asking a girl to prom was out of the question - I was WAY too shy for that). That radically changed in college with the introduction of alcohol. Since then, I have engaged in such exploits as dancing on stripper poles and giving lap dances (I even made a few dollars at it!). The biggest breakthrough I have made in recent years regarding dancing is that it's all about looking like you know what you're doing. Most people are equally clueless about dancing (at least at my age), so if you just go out there with confidence people just assume you're a good dancer. I actually like dancing now, and I wouldn't mind taking classes at various forms of it. There's something that just feels really "cool" when you're moving to a song you like with a girl you are comfortable with and you're feeling "in the zone."

I also enjoy singing in the car quite a bit, but there are a select few who have actually heard me sing. I think I could be a decent singer, but I'm very shy about it still.

I did a bit of car dancing today. Absolutely perfect weather in the Dallas area today. I worked out with my trainer and then after lunch was headed to my counseling appointment - some really good tunes on the radio, doing 60 - 70 down the freeway and I was dancing in my seat. Didn't notice if anyone noticed me or not. Since I could care less. Besides, my dancing while driving is way better than those picking their noses. LOL!!!

Only doing 60-70 on 75? you might get ran over.

I think as an ENFP we get +4 to dancing skills. Every ENFP I know can dance.

No, I was running others over, practically.  Something about 75 up near Allen (Legacy Exit), they all go slow in either direction.  The closer you get to Dallas the faster they go even tho the speed limit is lower.  Go figure on that one.

Besides, I'm from Los Angeles - 80 is the average speed if the traffic is actually moving.  LOL!!!

My daughter says I can't dance.  But I don't understand the dance moves of young adults.

Dancing is a subjective matter. I think that as long as you move in a reasonably fluid manner [no jerky movements unless you're doing the robot], do it in time to the music, and look like you know what you're doing, it definitely helps. The natural ability to move as if without constraints, I think, is a big part of being an ENFP and therefore a good dancer. Ne also helps with coming up with new dance moves that everyone around you starts doing, heheh.

At the innocent age of five my mother enrolled me for ballet lessons, which I went to for about a month until I wriggled out of them - I was of the opinion that ballet is something that should by no account be inflicted on an unsuspecting young boy A year or two ago though, my mother persuaded me I should try dance again, so I took up latin and I've actually really enjoyed it (plus the music is better in latin than in ballet). I think dancing suits me well because I love to be moving - I often have'restless' feet and tend to change my position relentlessly when I'm sitting down (but not all the time - sometimes I can sit still, sometimes I can't). It drives my family crazy when we're watching a video and I keep fidgeting

It must suck to have a heart attack when you're playing charades.

My parents put my in piano lessons when I was 7. I really wish I had stuck with it :/ Too bad you didn't stick with ballet. You'd have been like the only guy surrounded by dozens of girls.

Heh, around when I turned 14 the thought occured... repeatedly . I think there are decisions we make we all regret in life - in that case I let my fear of being the laughing stock of  Room 3 stop me from starting something which might have brought me lifelong enjoyment. When I realised that (in a "d'oh!" *facepalm* moment), all I could do was to decide that in the future I would do things based on my values and interests, rather than a desire to conform to the attitudes and behaviours of a group of social peers.

I spend more time in the music room than the sports field, wear casual shirts instead of hoodies, feel nauseous at the faintest whiff of smoke, hold the door open for my teachers, get on great with my parents, can't skateboard no matter how hard I try (which is actually kinda disappointing ), and generally act the way I think is right rather than the way other people think is cool. The great thing is that I *still* have great friends, and they're people who share my intrests and values, around whom I feel much more comfortable and natural, and who I have much more fun with

hahaha I'm the only black person who doesn't know how to dance.
My mom has put me in tap, jazz, and hip hop. I still sucked.
She even put me in a dance camp. lol i didn't know it at first, we're all doin crafts and stuff and then i hear the counselors say 'everyone get up its time to dance' I'm like 'say whaaat?!'
I'm pretty good at home but when I get out in public i just feel like everyone's watching and judging.

I think we're good dancers because we can access the sort of free-form we usually do with our thoughts and apply it to our body, but we're also restricted somewhat. There's self-doubt, which can tear down the best movers and minds, regardless of type.
