I got feedback on a communication essay today
- Sophisticated and highly conceptual use of language and ability to convey ideas. Flawless grammar and spelling
- Perceptive observations showing insight and self-awareness
- Not afraid of self-critique
- Didn't do well on the "understanding the emotional context of communication" criterion

And after getting the results, my thought process:
(1) Laughed: "whatever, I'm better than that"
(2) Cranky: "you didn't do as well as expected, did you. And you messed up on something so stupid too"
(3) Blamed the error externally instead, with a sarcastic "sorry, didn't realise the essay topic was State The Frikkin Obvious. Would have thrown in a few token 'and then he felt sad. And then he felt embarassed, meh meh meh' phrases for full marks if i'd been able to decipher what you were looking for from your vague instructions. Oh, the delicious irony; I think you don't know how to communicate, lady"
(4) "But you got a high distinction. That's the top category, there's no Highest of High you idiot. Why are you being so hard on yourself? And maybe reporting on the emotional context would have been obvious if emotions weren't a super-epic-giant blindspot for you. Now there's the irony. Guess you have a lot to work on, hey"
(5) Sped through these thoughts in about 5 seconds, then got on with my day without a care in the world
So guys, when has your INTJness shone through? For better or worse
You know you're an INTJ when..... |

Questioning of your ability will immediately be countered with a great show of just how able you are....or a blunt dismissal of the doubter, as he or she is not worth the trouble.
You've never read a romance novel in your entire life, but you know the plot to almost all of them your ENFP friend has ever read....and it makes you hate your near perfect memory....and your inability to tell an ENFP friend to shut up. ^_^
Stupid people make your eye twitch....as do silly nicknames

You think everyone else is an inferior human unless proven otherwise.
You randomly smile because you remind yourself of that guy in the nice suit that fell and ripped the suit apart, haha.
Are suspicious that other people ''might be able to'' read your mind, and try desperatly to think of nice things so they wont find your secret plans.
When you think its weird when people are interested in you.
Aargh the spelling mistakes!!!!

People tell you to smile more.....
You can really identify with the first part of this episode: http://www.southpark.nl/episodes/805/?lang=
There are ofcourse the obvious things like being aloof, cold, unintrested etc but thats been so hammered into me i didnt feel the need to explicity write them out. |

- When in restaurants/hotels etc., you observe how the place is run and you make mental notes on how to improve it, you even toy with the idea of telling the manager that they can be more efficient if they do X & Y. Then you discard it and think that your analytical mind should be put to better use elsewhere, since the manager is most likely an idiot and they aren't 'worthy' of your genius ideas anyway.
When answering online marketing research you actually leave a comment at the end, about how you found the questionnaire and give them pointers on how to improve it the next time.

- When your professor has given you an extra point for academic excellence and you end up with the impossible score of 101 where 100 was max, you think that the professor is a moron who doesn't know what he is talking about and that he certainly doesn't know how to grade and that he shouldn't have embarrassed you in front of the class with his silliness
- You write impossibly long sentences that are hard to follow, even for you. |

LOL, these are all brilliant. Don't understand why other people have bad spelling Definitely. This is a pet hate! It's not hard people! If you don't know how to use the dictionary, there's always Google's friendly "did you mean....??" Why yes, yes I did. You've never read a romance novel in your entire life, but you know the plot to almost all of them your ENFP friend has ever read Read one romance novel for bookclub (and it was torture!!). We got tired of reading 'heavy' novels, so for fun we each picked a different Mills & Boon and had to talk about the plot. The romance formula quickly became obvious! Are suspicious that other people ''might be able to'' read your mind I was like this for ages too! Growing up, I just naturally assumed that since I could see through others they could also see through me. Now I know that's not true. Except for ENFPs *thinks: puppies & rainbows, puppies & rainbows, puppies & rainbows* you observe how the place is run and you make mental notes on how to improve it Yup, that's a biggie. |

I would really prefer not to have a low opinion of a lot of other people. Sadly despite every chance I give them, they fail to prove themselves to me. LOL. ... And then there are those who feel insulted and looked down upon because they are being analyzed. I'd actually like to get an opinion from other INTJs. I've noticed that where my opinion of someone might be low, my feelings for them might not be. I may be like 'I like you just fine'... not to say I wouldn't be able to criticize them into oblivion if the information on their flaws was required, but as far as feelings go, I still like them well enough. IMO, as long as someone wishes you well, that's enough reason to wish them well. |

That's the big difference between ENFPs and INTJs I think, Zsych. ENFPs are optimistic and positive and always look for the best in people. INTJs aren't necessarily pessimistic (there I go putting a positive light on negativity...), but they expect the worst from people. There's some study somewhere....it's 2:45am so I'm not going to be able to find it....but basically the ones running this study randomly divided classrooms of students in elementary school in half. Then they brought in teachers who were told beforehand that one half of the glass were "good kids" and the other were "bad kids." Even though the classes were completely random in their division, the study found that the children began to do better or worse depending on the side they were on. It was concluded that simply having the idea in their heads that one side was smarter and better than the other caused the teachers to give subtle cues to the students, and they reacted to the cues by acting in the expected manner. You always get what you expect.

I often start off with a positive view of people... or rather, I choose to hang out with people I expect to be able to like or respect - so I'm already biased in their favor. And then, of those, some people will prove that I thought too highly of them, to the point that I'm eventually forced to accept it, despite all attempts to the contrary and giving them chances. I think I've adapted so that at least as far as my feelings go, I'm not that judgemental in how I view people. They might not get the same feeling from me though I see all the positive and negative qualities and they are filed away in my brain - that's just how it is |

You think you're dressed ok for the day, until your ESFx sister who you're now sharing a room with for the holidays gives an unsolicited opinion on what you're wearing, then starts throwing complementary pieces, different shoes and accessories at you to fix it.
She's right, you now look awesome. But you don't like to admit it. Stupid clothes |

I wish my mind took the time to do that before expressing what it wants on my face like you guys'. Are all ENFPs an open book of sorts?
