A watch with the added function of detecting the strength and direction of wifi hotspots. Like the T-shirt, but more functional!
Also, less an actual idea, but a premise. Consider the following:
-U.S. Congress continues to uphold 'net neutrality.
-The F.C.C. passes their current overhaul of data services legislation, setting a standard for acceptable cable speeds and costs, as well as classifying "internet services" as information service as opposed to telecommunications... imposing a different set of regulations, that, among other things, allows third-party ISPs to rent cable from telecoms, allowing consumers greater choice in their internet service without sacrificing speeds. Competition would drive down cost.
-Previous slew of new legislation sets a precedent for telecoms as well.
-Upstart media companies and "freedom of cable" makes it easier to break into information services/media.
-Cheap fast internet and a la carte TV!
I've got articles from a few different sources like Scientific American, WIRED, and Congress press releases... it makes a lot more sense when I add them in later
