I just found out what it was called yesterday. I want to be a consultant. I don't know what field or where, but I love taking a process or system and improving it. I do it all the time of my own accord and it'll take me to lots of interesting people/places and diverse challenges while I can play to my strengths (big picture abstraction, innovative approaches based of often unconsidered fundamental changes, rapid & simple implementation). I'm doing the process for my fraternity's rush program right now and I've come up with the same stuff the national organization has put tons of $$, research and man-hours into. I still think I can do better because I can tailor the strategy specifically to the university, but I don't get results until the first month or so of every semester. |

*pelts the newbie with pebbles* Welcome to the alley. As for the topic... I haven't the foggiest idea what I want to do, what makes you think I have any sort of clue as to what an ENFP should do? XD |

what are you naturally intellectually attracted to? everybody has an innate sense of what and who they want to be, you just have to find out what it is.. |

a (kinda) brief history on my college experience:
i went to a major university for a year, and my major was music. specifically, vocal performance. i failed music theory I and piano II, as well as a couple other classes, for various reasons. figured i wasn't cut out for it like i thought, since i was failing the most basic of classes, so i've never gone back to music.
since then, i've been in and out of community college, trying to figure out what to do with my life. the thing that's popped up recently is screenwriting, or just creative writing in general. not sure how long i'll stick with this idea, and i'm not even sure it's the right one. when you figure it out, aren't you supposed to feel super sure about your decision, or at least feel good about it? i never have felt that... |

Do ENFP really ever grow up ...I suppose we could, although not sure if we really want too. I've been through more jobs then everyone in my household has been put together. Following through is a major issue for me. I think my issue is more about getting bored so damn easily I feel like once i've mastered my job, learned all the inns and outs, routine sets in, BORING. When i hear someone is retiring from a job after 25+ years i think, what the hell is wrong with me. Why can't i do that. Sure would make life easier. I've spent Max $$$$$ with different education programs. Such a waste of time in the long run. I also haven't had that for SURE feeling about what it is i'm looking for with work. The atmosphere alone in the work place can be enough reason for me to leave. Yes, that is a very sad reality. Anything really challenging holds my attention. Once the challenge is gone, so is my attention :/ I think if i had to resort to telemarketing or anything that required sitting in the same spot, repeating the same lines, i would probably hang myself. Shout outs to anyone who can do this and be content, bless you This doesn't just apply with jobs for me. It applies to just about everything in my life, including relationships. Thank God i have a man in my life who challenges me on a daily basis |

Bella, I feel like I could have written your post ( which is in some ways totally disheartening as I pride myself on being original ). It's now come to the point that I can completely foresee the monotony, bureaucracy, and inaneness that will eventually envelope a job, so it becomes harder to feel genuinely exited. In other words, I can now anticipate the boredom and perhaps futility.
Dream jobs: Think Tank contributor, actress/director/producer or any creative project consultant, song writer, benefactor, entrepreneur, life coach, restauranteur. Anything that is constantly changing or requiring many modes or "hats," and anything that does not render me an ant in an anthill.
I love ants, it's just not in my nature to be one. |

Haha, so my list of career ideas is long and constantly changing. Let's see: ballerina (never took lessons or anything), psychologist, biologist, violinist, opera singer, sociologist, musical theater actress, theater/movie director, senator, fashion designer, etc. I've also had a different summer job nearly every summer. I decided on music education though. It is a great fit for me! It combines my love for people, my love for music, my creativity, my need for challenges, and my love of being in control. Every day is different and you never know what kids are going to say next. |

Actor, philosopher, psychologist, Super Saiyan, writer, entrepreneur, ninja... That's what I have in mind at the moment. Though, acting is my dream from when I was a little kid. I like writing, philosophy, and psychology though. And the idea of making my own company, putting my ideas into work, intrigues me greatly. |

I think I could definitely be a consultant of some type. My background is in research geology - I could be a working geologist or environmental consultant. Or tv show producer - specifically of science shows. I'd love a chance to try doing urban or regional planning consulting, or resource management. Yosemite has a Park Geologist. I'd love a job like that in one of the Parks I really like. Actually, I'd love to work for the NPS, but I'd want to get stationed at one of the places I really like (Glacier, Yosemite, Rainier, Olympics) and I'm not sure how much choice you get when you start. And I'm not quite ready to leave the city yet. For something completely different, working for an outfit like Titan Salvage would be rad I think: http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/16-03/ff_seacowboys?currentPage=all ... although I'm not sure how much I want life-and-limb danger as part of my daily job. On the other hand, I'd also like to try mountain guiding. Or be a climbing ranger at Shasta, Rainier, or Tetons. Search&Rescue. Commercial photography (not wedding!). Designing technical outerwear. Think-tank contributor would be an awesomely excellent job. Someday I'd like to write books, but I don't really write very much now, so I don't seem to be actively working toward that much. But I think someday I will. I'd love to own a little neighborhood pub, too. |
